To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements General Schedule Qualification Standards - Medical Records Series 0669 Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5) Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Planning, developing, and directing a medical records program for a health care facility that meets both institutional goals and standards of accrediting agencies. Evaluating and analyzing the organization and operation of medical records services, including medical records and indexes, and recommending and/or implementing appropriate revisions and modifications. Assisting medical and administrative staff in evaluating the quality and appropriateness of patient and health care services. Designing information systems to collect, analyze, monitor, report, and maintain privacy and confidentiality of patient and institutional data for health care related programs, and evaluating and implementing changes to assure the reliability of data. Developing and implementing policies and procedures for processing legal medical documents and insurance and correspondence requests in accordance with Federal, State, and local statutes. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0669-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Develop, direct and evaluate a quality medical records program for a health care facility; continually monitor program for accuracy, efficiency, privacy and to meet productivity, policy and regulatory agency and legal requirements, create, monitor and maintain systems that ensure quality and timeliness of documentation and coding; work collaboratively with providers, registration and billing departments to streamline process for coding and data collection; manage employees. Quality Ranking Factor: Applicant must possess and maintain a current certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Submit copy of certification with application. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
