Job Description
To qualify for this position at the GS-9 grade level, you must meet the one of the following requirements: Specialized Experience: One (1) full year of specialized experience equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Health System Specialist position. To be creditable, this specialized experience must have been equivalent to the GS-7 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience is progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: (1) Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; (2) Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and (3) Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. In addition to the above guidance, some examples of specialized experience include: experience in a research setting overseeing the protocol review process of multiple programs and committees; ensuring projects are reviewed by appropriate personnel; and issues related to project management are resolved; develops and manages annual and semi-annual program assessments; and implementing educational programs and events. (This experience must be documented in your resume) ~OR~ Education: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education OR your LL.B. or J.D., with major field of study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. (One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended).
